ResumoToe flexor strength is critical to control shifts of body weight, propel the body during gait and assist in shock absorption during repeated impacts ( Senda et al., 1999 Senda et al. Acta Medica Okayama. 1999; 53: 189-191 PubMed Google Scholar ). Conversely, toe flexor weakness may lead to foot deformities ( van Schie et al., 2004 van Schie et al. Diabetes Care. 2004; 27: 1668-1673 Crossref PubMed Scopus (89) Google Scholar ) and a reduced ability to perform activities of daily living, both of which initiate a cycle of continued loss in physical function and quality of life.
