Resumo

The conductivity induced by bombardment with cathode rays in vacuum-deposited films of zinc sulphide and in plates of wurtzite crystals is studied. Both types of specimens respond strongly to steady bombardment and to short bursts, the films responding to steady bombardment only if the energy of the cathode rays exceeds a threshold value, the crystals only if the bias is high enough. The theory of the effect is discussed.
