Observation of RHEED Intensity Oscillation in the Growth of Ag on Ag(100) Single Crystals

ResumoOscillation of the reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED) intensity has been observed during the MBE growth process of Ag on Ag(100) single crystals. The oscillation of the specular beam intensity is observed in the growth temperature range from 200 K to 480 K, but not observed above 500 K. Temperature dependence of the RHEED intensity oscillation is discussed on the basis of the step flow and roughening transition, and it is shown that the roughening transition is more important in the growth process of this system with high surface energy.
