ResumoIn Cory's Shearwater Calonectris diomedea on Selvagem Grande (30°09'N, 15°52'W), fledging weight influences the survival of chicks during the first weeks of their life at sea, larger fledglings having a higher probability of survival. This is true for males as well as for females. There is no apparent effect of the date of fledging.
