ResumoSummary Summary Free color associations were collected from a total of 337 children in the fourth through sixth grades to 12 concepts: hope, anger, sadness, honesty, fear, happiness, pain, love, death, strength, school, and life. Their responses showed a predominant color in the cases of love (red), death (black), and anger (red, closely followed by black). Colors were much varied in life, honesty, happiness, and school but, across all concepts, blue, red, white, and black were salient. Overall, these color choices of children were quite similar to those reported of adults.
