ResumoThe pathogenesis of neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis remains poorly understood. Recent evidence suggests that PAF (platelet activating factor) and human toll-like receptors (TLRs) contribute to the pro-inflammatory response that is characteristic of NEC pathology. Understanding the regulation of these molecular interactions may provide new approaches for prevention or treatment of this dreaded condition.
