Resumo

A cyclic hexamer of trimethylplatinum units and theophylline anions is a model substance for R‐DNA complexes. The Pt atoms are coordinated in a distorted octahedral fashion with facial arrangement of the Pt‐N and Pt‐O bonding to one theophylline ligand and a further Pt‐N bond to a second theophylline ligand. Theophyiline functions thereby as bridging ligand, which is bidentate on one side and monodentate on the other. The six theophylline ligands form a layer between three Me 3 Pt groups.
