ResumoHydrothermal reactions of 6-phosphonopyridine-2-carboxylic acid (H3L) with divalent transition metal perchlorates (Cu, Co, Ni) afforded three new organic−inorganic hybrids, namely, [Cu(C6H4NO5P)2]·3(H2O), 1, [Co(C6H4NO5P)·(H2O)3]·H2O, 2, and [Ni(C6H3NO5P) ·0.5Ni(H2O)6]·2H2O, 3. The ligand crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with a = 8.483(1) Å, b = 12.478 (2) Å, c = 8.512(1)Å, β = 110.844(3)°, V = 842.0(2) Å3, and Z = 4. A pair of hydrogen bonds N−H···O running through the a-axis link the neighboring molecules forming dimers continuing into a two dimensional (2D) network with the aid of lattice water in the a direction. Compound 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with a = 8.123(5) Å, b = 14.912 (1) Å, c = 15.508(1)Å, β = 100.571(1)°, V = 1846.8(2) Å3, and Z = 4. The structure of compound 1 features a 2D hydrogen-bonding framework. Compound 2 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1̄ with a = 7.292(4) Å, b = 8.255(4) Å, c = 10.055(5) Å, α = 97.328(8)°, β = 100.571(1)°, γ = 100.293(9)°, V = 590.3(5) Å3, and Z = 2. The structure of compound 2 features a channel 8 × 7 Å formed by hydrogen bonding along the a-axis through a pair of POH···-OOC and two pairs of HOH···-OPO(OH) hydrogen bonds. Compound 3 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca with a = 19.592(2) Å, b = 7.222(8) Å, c = 25.516(2)Å, V = 3676.6(6) Å3, and Z = 8. The structure features both a nickel cation and a complex anion. The three dimensional (3D) hydrogen-bonding framework is observed down the b-axis direction and running through the ac-plane to form infinite chains.
