New Records of the Genus Nebalia Leach, 1814 (Phyllocarida, Leptostraca) from the Mediterranean Coast of Turkey, with a Checklist of the Mediterranean Species of Leptostraca

[Sampling studies on the Turkish Mediterranean coast revealed the presence of two species of Leptostraca belonging to the genus Nebalia . These species were identified as N. strausi Risso, 1826 and N. kocatasi Moreira, Kocak & Katagan, 2007. The presence of the two species is reported for the first time from the region; these records therefore further extend the known distribution of these species from the Aegean Sea to the Turkish waters of the Mediterranean Sea. A checklist of all known leptostracans from the Mediterranean Sea is provided. El estudio de muestras procedentes de la costa mediterranea de Turquia ha revelado la presencia de dos especies de Leptostraca pertenecientes al genero Nebalia . Dichas especies han sido identificadas como N. strausi Risso, 1826 y N. kocatasi Moreira, Kocak & Katagan, 2007, constituyendo de este modo la primera cita de ambas especies para dicha region. Estos nuevos registros extienden la distribucion conocida de estas especies desde el mar Egeo a aguas turcas del mar Mediterraneo.
