ResumoCASES of porencephaly are sufficiently rare to merit record, and examples of a symmetrical lesion affecting both temporal poles are very unusual indeed.TIle brain which is especially referred to in this paper was removed from a female subject, aged 73, which came into the Anatomy Room of Trinity College, Dublin, in the Winter Session, 1911-12.The cause of death was certified as "bronchitis."I propose first describing SOUle of the anatomical features of the specimen in 111y possession, and then dealing with the subject generally, referring from time to time to any points ill connection with 111y case which seem to be of interest.Description of the Specimen .-Thebrain itself did 110t markedly depart from the normal variations in respect of size. There was no unhealthy or unusual condition of the outer meninges, and the amount of intra-cranial fluid appeared to be normal.During removal it was noticed that there was a large gush of straw-coloured fluid front each temporal pole as it was being freed, and it was then seen that the anterior part of each temporal lobe was replaced by a cavity containing fluid and covered by a thin,
