However, the accompanying editorial by Phillips and Twombly (2) is based solely in the "index condition" framework, in which one condition is viewed to be of paramount interest. The editorialists say that hypertension is the most important condition that is not well managed. Surely, this valuation depends on the defining perspective, whether it be the public health, cost, or health of an individual patient. We suggest that this is the wrong way to frame the issue because it does not adequately acknowledge a patient-centered perspective ...References1.
