Resumo

Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Hansenula sp., Dekera sp. and Kluyveromyces marxianus free and immobilized and free Geotrichum sp. have been used in the reduction of ethyl benzoylacetate yielding, in up to 99% ees, ethyl (S)-3-hydroxi-3-phenylpropionate, a suitable intermediate for the production of fluoxetine.
