Resumo

As a crime fiction writer, Sara Paretsky belongs both to the “classical” U.S. tradition of the crime novel and to the newer trend in women's feminist fiction. Her private eye, V. I. Warshawski, like her male counterparts, is poor, tough, honest, and full of fighting spirit (and muscles), a kind of “lone ranger.” But, like a woman and a feminist, she values life and friends, independence, egalitarian relationships, and solidarity with women. Her relationships with men are difficult because of her feminist outlook on life. She is a positive heroine, full of humour and very much alive.
