Thermodynamic and Structural Properties of Metals and Alloys

Based on the modernization at Høyanger in 1981, the heat balance in a new 220-kA prebake pot is discussed. The energy recovery and the different possibilities which were considered are presented, leading to the heat recovery system chosen for Høyanger. Details of the system, as well as its economics, is described.
