Resumo

Detailed magnetic measurements and neutron scattering investigation on stage 2 CoCl2-GIC reveal successive magnetic transitions with true 2D long range spin-order at intermediate temperatures. This is interpreted as a hierarchic ordering process caused by a lack of dimensional crossover together with entropy effect originating from the island structure within the intercalant layers.
