The eastern and western diaryl ether portions of the macrocyclic bastadin 5 (1) from the marine sponge Ianthella sp. have been assembled as [CpRu]+-complexes 2 and 3. For the first time, a detailed HPLC study of charged ruthenium sandwich complexes is reported. The eastern and western diaryl ether portions of the macrocyclic bastadins, natural products from the marine sponge Ianthella sp., have been assembled as [CpRu]+ complexes. In an HPLC study, aminopropyl-functionalised silica was found as a very suitable stationary phase for the chromatographic separation of the different cationic ruthenium sandwich complexes. It is now possible for the first time to effectively monitor and purify [CpRu]+ complexes and to carry them through several synthetic steps. Os éteres de diarila correspondentes às porções oeste e leste das bastadinas cíclicas, produtos naturais da esponja marinha Ianthella sp., foram obtidos como complexos ciclopentadienila de rutênio. Através de um estudo com cromatografia líquida de alta eficiência (CLAE), foi descoberto que a sílica gel funcionalizada com propil amina é uma fase estacionária muito apropriada para a separação cromatográfica de complexos sanduíche catiônicos de rutênio.
