ResumoMagnetic circularly polarized luminescence (MCPL) spectra of Ru (bpy)3(PF6)2 in the region of the sharp zero-phonon lines have been measured at 4.2 and 2 K. The MCPL of both origins is due to strong B/D terms. Thus the two lowest excited states are non-degenerate. Former interpretations of the MCPL of the broad luminescence features of Ru(bpy)32+ as due to C terms are incorrect.
