Resumo

The microwave dielectric properties of Li-containing cubic spinel Li2CoTi3O8 have been investigated. Single-phase powders can be synthesized from the mixed-oxide route at 900 °C and dense ceramics (∼97% of the theoretical density) with uniform microstructures (6–15 μm) can be obtained by sintering in air at 1025 °C. The ceramic exhibits a moderate permittivity (ɛr) of 28.9, a high quality factor value (Q × f) of 52,600, and a low temperature coefficient of the resonant frequency (τf) of 7.4 ppm/°C. The addition of BaCu(B2O5) (BCB) can effectively lower the sintering temperature of Li2CoTi3O8 ceramic from 1025 °C to 900 °C and does not induce much degradation of the microwave dielectric properties. The BCB doped Li2CoTi3O8 ceramic can be compatible with Ag electrode, which makes it a promising ceramic for LTCC technology application.
