Resumo

I offer a study about the translation of Petrarch’s Triumphi and Illicino’s commentary by Antonio de Obregón (1512). I prove the link between Obregón’s Life of Petrarch and the homonym text by Francisco de Madrid, which was written as a paratext in his translation of Petrarch’s De remediis (1510). I also explain the connection between both translators with the rich and complex editorial and exegetical tradition in Italy. It is thus proved that the knowledge of Petrarchism in Spain, related to Triumphi, is deeper than it was suspected. The intertextual tradition analysis provides facts to the philological discussion about the chronology of Triumphi.
