ResumoThe pretest-posttest comparison group design is one of the most extensively used methods to evaluate clinical research, but it is often overanalyzed with more than one analysis when one is sufficient. From an example published in this Journal, we discuss parametric approaches that are often used to analyze this design and the strengths and limitations of each approach. We then comment on common nonparametric approaches. Last, we discuss methods to analyze this design when the treatment groups are not randomized (intact).
