ResumoEnhancementImmunologic enhancement may be defined as the successful establishment, or delayed rejection, of an allograft as a consequence of the presence of specific antiserum in the host.229 The existence of antigraft antibody as the effective agent in enhancement distinguishes this phenomenon from other types of immune unresponsiveness. The basic conditions for inducing enhancement have been worked out extensively in inbred mice and have been reviewed in detail.230 Although this phenomenon was discovered in experiments involving tumor transplantation and has since been studied extensively with similar systems, it should be emphasized that enhancement extends likewise to normal tissues although it . . .
