Resumo

Abstract Holocene fossil skink bones are described from three sites in Northland, New Zealand. A new Cyclodina species is described, and other bones are referred to a large indeterminate Leiolopisma species. The Holocene skink fauna of Northland therefore contained, in addition to those species that still survive, at least two additional species, one equal in size to the largest extant New Zealand skinks, the other approximately 40% larger.
