Synthesis of heterocyclic compounds

Abstract The reactions of trimethylsilyl isothiocyanate (TMSTC) with aldehydes catalyzed by Lewis acid gave α,α′-diisothiocyanato ethers in good to excellent yields. Similarly, unsymmetrical α-isothiocyanato ethers were obtained from the reactions of TMSTC with acetals in appropriate yields.
