ResumoNOTES ET DOCUMENTS SOME ACCOUNTS OF WOMEN DELEGATES TO CALIPH MU 'À WIYA: POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE* MAYA YAZIGI University of British Columbia From the ninth century onwards, there circulated in Islamic literature accounts of women delegates approaching di ff erent rulers about various issues. These accounts frequently disclose the wit and audacity of the women delegates as they carried on their missions. Many accounts are preserved in collections of belles-lettres immor- talizing the creative eloquence and poetic excellence of these women delegates.
