Resumo

Single crystals of pure PbTiO 3 were grown by a flux method using the PbO-TiO 2 -B 2 O 3 mixture as a flux solution. A mechanical detwining treatment was carried out by applying pressure to the platelet edges of the crystals in order to eliminate 90° domains in the crystal. The temperature and frequency dependences of the dielectric permittivity of the crystals were measured and analyzed. It was found that the dielectric properties of PbTiO 3 single crystals were explained as a superposition of the effects of dielectric relaxation, electric conduction and simple dielectricity. By analyzing frequency dependence of dielectric permittivity using an equivalent circuit, the relative dielectric permittivity tensors ε 11 / ε 0 and ε 33 / ε 0 of PbTiO 3 at room temperature were determined to be 130 and 90, respectively.
