ResumoA large-scale hierarchical flower-like platinum counter electrode was successfully prepared by a template-free route. The platinum flower is composed of numerous of petal-like platinum nanosheets with a thickness of 25–30 nm, with a significantly enhanced active surface-area and electrochemical performance in DSSCs. The DSSC based on the flower-like Pt counter electrode shows an efficiency of 7.94%, which is enhanced by 19.2% compared to that of a conventional Pt nanoparticle electrode.
