ResumoAbsolute differential electron scattering cross sections for neon are reported at selected energies from 0.25 to 7 eV over an angular range of 30' to 120'. Above 2 eV the results are in very good agreement with the measurements of Williams (1979). Below 2 eV the authors' results agree well with the theoretical cross sections of Saha (1990) and those derived by O'Malley and Crompton (1980) from drift velocity measurements of Robertson (1972). The excellent accord of these cross sections suggests that neon is well suited to serve as a secondary standard for verifying the operation of an electron scattering apparatus at low energies.
