ResumoThe concentration of tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) in tobacco leaves, as assayed in a local-lesion test on Pinto bean leaves, was enhanced by treatment with 6-benzylaminopurine (BA) 5–120 min after inoculation. The degree of enhancement depended on the time lag between inoculation and start of BA treatment. Maximum enhancement was achieved when BA treatment was begun 20 min after inoculation. BA treatment started only 1 min after inoculation reduced TMV concentration.
