ResumoAn abundance analysis of μ Cas is carried out on the basis of four Palomar exposures in the visual region, using the differential curve-of-growth method. The star has an iron: hydrogen ratio four times lower than that of the Sun and it belongs to the α -rich group discovered by Wallerstein. Relative to iron, Mg, Si, Ca and Ti are overabundant by factors between 1.5 and 2 and Mn is underabundant by a factor of about 2, while Na, Sc, V, Cr, Co, Ni, Zn and Y have normal abundances. Less definite results for Al and Ba imply anomalies not exceeding a factor of 2, and upper limits are derived for Zr, Nd, Eu and Yb.
