ResumoGeorge Frederick Coker from Bermondsey joined the Royal Navy on August 11,1899, as a probationary sick berth apprentice, later qualifying as a masseur on July 1, 1906. Where he trained and qualified is at present unknown but he joined the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert in June 1911 until August 1914, rejoining again in June 1919 until August 1924. He was a member of the Royal Naval Brigade which left Scapa Flow on March 20,1916, landing in France on the 22nd, and proceeding to the Ypres front on the 23rd, joining the Coldstream Guards stationed there.
