ResumoUsing the present knowledge of p-p data and its representation by the ISAJET minimum-bias-event structure, we calculate the invariant mass and the energy loss of an excited proton traversing nuclear matter and, from this, its rapidity loss, both before and after hadronization. We find the difference between the leading proton rapidity loss in pPb interactions and that in p-p interactions, integrated over all pt, to be 0.29.
