Resumo

In weaving, a warp must withstand a repeated stretching caused by shedding and beat-up. It is also subjected to abrasion, which is mainly due to shedding and reed motion. The yarns are therefore sized, and the properties of a sizing agent that are of primary influence are the degree of protection from abrasion imparted to the yarn, the adhesive power between the fibres, and the properties of the size film. An account is given of an investigation of the factors influencing the abrasionresistance of a yarn before and after sizing, namely, the twist factor, the size content, and the properties of the size.
