Abstract The 2 known species of Acanthothynnus Turner are redescribed and 4 new species described: A. ater, A. carinatus, A. clypeatus and A. luteus. The females of only 3 species, A. clementi (Turner), A. clypeatus and A. sannae (Turner) are known and are described or redescribed. A key to species is given.
