ResumoThe cyclophane 1 is the first functional model for the enzyme pyruvate oxidase in which flavin and thiazolium prosthetic groups are arranged close to a well-defined binding site. It catalyzes the oxidation of 2-naphthaldehyde to methyl 2-naphthoate in MeOH/Et3N with high efficiency and complete reaction selectivity.
