Naval Engineers JournalVolume 77, Issue 1 p. 13-27 ALUMINUM AND ITS USE IN NAVAL CRAFT PART I COMMANDER CARL WALTER LEVEAU USNR, Retired THE AUTHOR, is Manager of the Marine Development Department, Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation, Oakland, California. He received his shipbuilding training in Sweden, starting as an apprentice draftsman at Oresundsvarvet, Landskrona, at the age of 14. In 1922 Leveau arrived in this country, at the age of 18, and has worked as a designer and in management positions with such well known companies as Robinson Marine Construction Company, Horace E. Dodge Boat Works, Ventnor Boat Company, and Elco Boat Company.
