In 1929 Flinn and Seidlin 1 reported the results of treating three cases of radium poisoning in painters of luminous dials by injections of parathyroid extract-Collip over a period of seven weeks. Their report was remarkable in that it showed a loss in radioactivity of about 50 per cent. In 1931 Flinn 2 reported an increase in the elimination of radium from the human body when the patients were given viosterol for some time. A marked decrease in radioactivity was again observed. The decrease in radioactivity was measured directly on the living subjects with an electroscope by the gamma method or by testing the radon present in the expired air of the patients. Our patients were four radioactive girls of the New Jersey radium patients who were placed under the supervision of a commission consisting of Dr. James Ewing, Dr. E. B. Krumbhaar, and Dr. Lloyd F. Craver.
