Resumo(COT)2U (COT = η-C8H8) reacts in tetrahydrofuran (THF) with I2 to give the monocyclooctatetraenyl compound (COT)UI2(THF)2 (I) which is transformed into (COT)UI2(HMPA)2 (II) upon addition of 2 equiv. of hexamethylphosphoramide. Treatment of I with Kacac (acac = MeCOCHCOMe), KC5Me5 and LiCH2SiMe3 give (COT)U(acac)2 (III), (COT)(C5Me5)UI (IV) and [(COT)U(CH2SiMe3)3]-[Li(THF)3] (V), respectively.
