Naur, Peter Abstract Two models for the sun, based on the revised data for the proton-proton chain reaction and taking the opacity due to free-free transitions in hydrogen and helium into account, have been calculated. The models differ in the explicit opacity expressions used, but both yield a composition for the interior of the sun of about 0.75 per cent heavy elements, 75 per cent hydrogen, and 24 per cent helium.
