Resumo

Abstract The effects of crystallization temperature and solvent evaporation rate on the occurrence of spherulites of polyethylene adipate (PEA) during the crystallization from dioxane solutions are described. It was found that both evaporation rate and crystallization temperature determine the morphology of spherulite. At a given temperature, a fast evaporation rate leads to only one type of spherulite, while a slow evaporation rate is responsible for different types of spherulites. It is considered that changes in the morphology of PEA polymer at different solvent evaporation rates and temperatures are associated with changes in the value of supersaturation available during crystallization and simultaneous presence of different polymorphs at a particular crystallization temperature.
