ResumoThe Ecumenical ReviewVolume 30, Issue 4 p. 355-368 Towards True Humanity in South Africa Steve Biko, Steve Biko The late Steve Biko was president of the South African Students' Organization (SASO), and leader of the Black Consciousness movement for liberation through self-reliant struggle, which included social, economic and educational activities. His organization was banned last year, and he died of torture and neglect under detention. This article is composed of two chapters taken from a collection of selected writings by him, to be published by the Bowerdean Press, London, in November 1978 with the title: Steve Biko — I Write What I Like, edited by Fr Aelred Stubbs, C.
