Resumo

Homogeneous glasses of the system xFe2O3·(100 − x)[Bi2O3·GeO2] were obtained within 0 < x ⩽ 20 mol%. EPR absorption spectra due to Fe3+ (3d5) ions show the g ≈ 4.3 line as the main feature. The site symmetry of Fe3+ paramagnetic ions is predominantly rhombic. Mixed valence states of iron ions in samples with x > 5 mol% Fe2O3 were detected.
