ResumoAbstract The redox potential and iodine concentration behavior of the title reaction and component reactions have been examined. The effect of hydrogen peroxide, potassium iodate, manganese (II) sulfate, sulfuric acid, and acetone concentration on the time period and redox potential behavior is reported. Iodine production and consumption rates for the component reactions are given, and some mechanistic suggestions, involving iodine dioxide as the one electron oxidant, are made.
