Resumo

We describe the preparation by rapid solidification processing (RSP), properties and alloy chemistry of the glassy alloy Yb0.17Ba0.33Cu0.50 and its oxidation to form the superconductor Yb1Ba2Cu3Ox with Tc = 93 K. Processing features and advantages of forming high-Tc superconductors via metallic alloy precursors are discussed.
