ResumoMonoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) have been reported to cause or exacerbate insomnia, sometimes requiring discontinuation despite adequate therapeutic response. The authors present a series of 13 cases of MAOI-associated insomnia managed with addition of trazodone. Twelve patients (92%) had an initial positive response, with nine (69%) able to continue on the combination of MAOI and trazodone without intolerable side effects.
