ResumoFor liquid tetrachloromethane (p, Vm, T) has been measured with a direct-weighing apparatus from 329 to 409 K and at pressures to 55 MPa. The results compare very well with published values, especially at the lower temperatures, and have been fitted to a modified form of the Tait equation. Speeds of sound c have been measured at temperatures between 283 and 455 K and pressures to 125 MPa. Experiments have been carried out at 3 MHz with a newly constructed apparatus, using a pulse-echo overlap technique.
