ResumoAbstract The ceramics of ferroelectric relaxor (Sr,Bi)TiO3 modified by MgO were prepared by the solid state reaction. The phase assemblage was analyzed by the X-ray diffraction (XRD). Dielectric behavior of (Sr,Bi)TiO3 ceramics with MgO additive was studied in the temperature range from 150 to 450 K, with and without external electric field. The dc electric field (E) showed a slight influence on the dielectric properties of these ceramics. The dielectric loss (tanδ∼0.01) and a tunability (∼4–6%) were obtained for the ceramics around 300 K. The small tunability is attributed to the quantum paraelectric matrix of SrTiO3.
