ResumoA new sodium sulphite/cationic surfactant/cationic resin treatment, which prevents felting shrinkage in wool fabrics, has been investigated. The presence of cationic resin inthese treatments allows the use of lower reagent concentrations and temperatures than employed if the resin were not present. Furthermore its presence avoids the loss of mechanical strength which takes place when the shrink‐resist treatment is carried out without resin.
