ResumoAnal papillae of Aedes togoi collected from seawater pools are composed of a single cell type having extensive infolding of both apical and basal plasma membranes and containing abundant mitochondria. Involvement of these organs in active transport of some type is suggested on the basis of comparison with freshwater and salt lake species.
