ResumoThe relationship between grain boundary character and the intergranular oxide distribution was investigated on the polycrystalline nickel‐base superalloy IN718 by using EBSD technique. Basically, internal oxidation predominantly occurs along random grain boundaries, while, for highly symmetric grain boundaries, such as Σ3 twin grain boundaries, intergranular oxides were rarely found.
