Dependence of the Stark broadening on the emitter charge for the 3 s − 3 p transitions of Li-like ions

The Stark widths of the $3s\ensuremath{-}3p$ transitions for the Li-like ions CIV, NV, and OVI were measured for the plasma parameters ${n}_{e}=1.8\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{24}$ ${\mathrm{m}}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ and $k{T}_{e}=12.5$ eV. Within the error limits, the measurements clearly show a ${Z}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ dependence of the Stark width on the emitter ionization stage $Z$ ($Z=4$ for CIV), whereas calculations within the electron-impact approximation yield Stark widths more nearly proportional to ${Z}^{\ensuremath{-}2}$.
